Flipped Learning : Reasons You Should Bother? I am developing these ideas and thoughts as I get more involved with a Masters Degree. So one side of my writing feeds the other and as I listen to podcasts, read articles and books and connect with others, I am looking forward to developing my own PD, PLN and POV! This post will focus on how blended learning, with a focus on ‘flipped learning’ is discussed and how it may help address the current curriculum demands in Australia which is undergoing a reformation. As with many educational systems throughout the world, the Australian curriculum is being reworked, revamped and repositioned with a national perspective and engagement with 21st century skills. In particular, I am looking to assess the level of student engagement with and enjoyment of ‘flipped learning’, and to understand emergent learning relationships and changes to learning relationships (with peers and teachers). Many argue that adopting a flipped learning approach will require a change in classroom environment, pedagogy and classroom management. I wish to look into these areas in future posts, however, for now 'setting the scene' and getting a 'feel for the field'. I hope to understand and participate in this 'nascent' field (heard that word the other day and just had to use it somewhere!) and understand a and apply ‘flipped learning’ and it's potential to meet the needs of 21st Century learners. Grand ideas! BUT others have been through this before me and are there now! It certainly seems a journey worth taking! | |
